Bideford
Our closest town is Bideford, known as the little white town which has changed little over the years. You’ll find a choice of small shops and cafes here, as well as a statue of Bideford’s most famous resident, the writer of Westward Ho!, Charles Kingsley.

Bucks Mills Beach
Our nearest beach is a rocky secluded cove at the bottom end of the picturesque village of Bucks Mills. Unfortunately there is a steep walk to get down and up but this does mean that it’s quiet most of the time. Great for crabbing and rock pooling when the tide is out.

Clovelly Village
One of the most famous and beautiful villages in the world, Clovelly hangs on a 400ft cliff where donkeys were once used to transport people and goods up the steep cobbled streets. The Quay at Clovelly dates back to the 14th Century and has a great deal of smuggling and pirate history associated with it.

Lundy Island
Just off the coast and clearly visible from the top of the Cosmic Typoon is Lundy Island. This 3 mile long and half mile wide island is owned by the National Trust and welcomes visitors to view its stunning landscape and beautiful and diverse wildlife. The name 'Lundy' derives from Norse for 'Puffin Island' - and you can still see many of these unusual birds on the island today. You can sail there on the MS Oldenburg from Bideford.
