For the 2009/ 2010 season The Milky Way Adventure Park, introduced a new scheme to reward their staff for excellent customer service. Visitors to the attaction were asked to rate their visit and vote for their friendliest and most helpful member of the Milky Way team. Each month, the member of staff with the most votes received a special prize, like vouchers for a meal for two at the Hoops Inn.
As a thank you for taking the time to vote, visitors were also entered into a draw to win £1,000. The lucky winners, drawn at random at the end of March 2010, were Sally and Ian Dawson and their three sons Sam (12), Ben (11) and James (9), from Marwood near Barnstaple. On finding out the news Ian Dawson said “Wow, thank you so much. We have never won anything before and the boys are really excited!”
It turns out that the Dawson’s are regulars at the Milky Way, visiting three of four times a year. “There is a lot of variety for all ages; you pay one price for the day and there's no limit on the rides. When we have friends down with a variety of ages everyone is happy, rain or sunshine” said Ian Dawson.
On the day that they voted, the Dawson’s chose Sally Buckley as their favourite member of the Milky Way team. Sally came joint second in terms of votes for the whole season. The overall winner, with the most votes for the season was Norman Sanders.
Sally Dawson said “All the staff are really helpful; welcoming with a smile and always willing to help. Sally particularly came to mind when we decided who to vote for as on that day she was on the front desk”.
Trevor Stanbury, proprietor of the Milky Way said “The scheme was designed to improve our customer service and reward our staff for the excellent work that they do. I'm delighted to say that it has proved very successful with nearly 99% of visitors rating our customer service as good or excellent.”
He continued “we are incredibly proud of our staff and the service that they provide to our customers. People often go out of their way to tell me what a credit they are and how lovely it is to receive service with a smile.”
The Dawson family visited the park again on Tuesday 6th April to collect their cheque and to celebrate Ben’s 11th birthday. Ben Dawson said “there’s a lot to do. We really like the roller coaster - we can't get enough of it!”
